Communications Coordinator

We are seeking an articulate, empathetic, and detail-oriented Communications Coordinator Intern. In this role, you will act as the "voice" of our non-profit. You will help bridge the gap between our internal work and the public eye through newsletters, press releases, and donor updates, just to name a few. If you love writing, have a nose for a good story, and want to use your skills to make a tangible difference, this is the role for you.

Requirements

  • Support the promotion of organizational events and ongoing communication with donors, sponsors, partners and volunteers.

  • Responsible for managing and directing the organization’s internal and external communications.

  • Compose electronic and paper correspondences. Other duties may also be assigned as needed.

  • Work closely with the Marketing Director and collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance our cause.

Qualifications Needed

  • Good communication, written and verbal, and organizational skills, accountability, and problem-solving, accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Work well with and on a team.

  • Write and edit the monthly e-newsletter (using tools like Mailchimp).

  • Draft blog posts for our website, including "Survivor Spotlights," "Volunteer of the Month," and educational articles about breast health.

  • Draft press releases for upcoming campaigns (especially for the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk/Run).

  • Build and maintain a media list of local journalists and reporters to pitch stories to local news outlets to secure coverage for our events.

  • Proofread marketing materials for grammar, tone, and brand consistency.

  • Draft impact reports and "Thank You" letters.

  • Interview program recipients (survivors/patients), gather testimonials and quotes for future campaigns (handling these conversations with extreme sensitivity). Ensure that the organization's "Brand Voice" is consistent across all platforms.
